Wow! You really have some great information on solar panels for homes. I can understand why people initially think the cost is a deterrent, but after researching the topic, I eventually saw that the benefits to the environment (and over time to my wallet) made Solar Power worth pursuing. However, personally, I didn't like the idea of trying to build them myself. Unless it is done correctly, it just won't work properly and the benefit decreases. I decided I would rather put in more of an initial investment in order to ensure that it works and increase my savings over time.

Really interesting consideration - indoor gardening. I know that some people are trying to sell people on the idea of hydroponics in their house or garage. But what happens when you can't get the solution or fertilizers for the solution? Building soil is the best plan, but I think this is a valid concept for supplementing things.

Encouraging thoughts to get going on some indoor gardening. Sprouting is really a great idea too. Not that hard and great for kids!

Tenicha,

There are several really good reasons to take courage!

1. It costs less to live in a self-reliant way: rent is cheaper living in the country, growing your own food save lots of money, fixing and making more of your own things saves money, etc..

2. This is the way the Creator designed us to live - your Maker is on your side!

3. Prayer makes a big difference

4. Start taking steps in that direction, learning what you can and putting things into practice as you go.

Thank you for your cogent and thoughtful article about seed resources. In addition to the book you recommend I want to suggest an online seed directory that may be useful to some readers. The Organic Seeds Directory contains many sources of good quality seedsman and can be found here:
